Markel International, the specialist insurer, has recently appointed two marine underwriters, Nitin Marathe and Danielle Yu, for the India and Hong Kong office respectively.
Nitin joined Markel India on 24 February, 2020, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in aviation and marine in India, specialising in marine hull and machinery, as well as ports and terminals placements. Prior to joining Markel India, he was the vice president of Marsh India’s aviation and marine underwriting team. In addition, he also oversaw the risk management and strategic business development in the market.
Meanwhile, Danielle joined Markel in Hong Kong on 19 March 2020. Danielle has over ten years of experience in all lines of marine underwriting in the Hong Kong and East Asia market, including cargo, hull and liability. In her previous role, Danielle was a senior marine underwriter at Navigators Asia, and prior to that, she was also at other Lloyd’s Syndicate platforms as a marine underwriter.
Nitin and Danielle will both be responsible for developing Markel’s Asia marine underwriting expertise in the Indian and Hong Kong markets respectively, working closely with Colin Fordham, Director of Markel in Asia and leader of Markel’s growing marine presence in the region.
