Contship Italia Group, a leading maritime container terminal operator and intermodal services provider, announced the launch of its risk prevention initiative for La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) with the installation of three new automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) placed strategically in three different locations within the terminal.
The new risk prevention initiative was announced earlier this month
(November 2019) during a formal presentation at LSCT, one of the Contship’s
the southern gateways in Italy, which was graced by Ms. Anna Maria Sorrentino of the Urban Planning Alderwoman and Ms. Caterina Budroni, Deputy Inspector of the II.VV Committee of the Italian Red Cross, the local Red Cross Committee.
The three defibrillators will complement LSCT’s new training program, “Safe Behaviours”, which focuses on improving workplace welfare and health. The program, which started earlier this month, aims to prevent workplace incidents by promoting a safety culture among employees.
Mr. Alfredo Scalisi, General Manager of LSCT, said: “As part of Contship’s commitment to safety, we have adopted a holistic approach to improving workplace health and wellbeing. The AEDs will serve as the ‘hardware’ to our risk prevention initiative, as we improve our ‘software’ by educating our employees through continuous training.”
‘Safe Behaviours’ will be kick-started with two training sessions, with an emphasis on enhancing both physical and mental health. During the sessions, stress management and the benefits of maintaining a good posture at work will be examined, among other important everyday topics that impact each employee.
