Contship Italia Group, Italy’s leading container terminal and intermodal service provider, successfully concluded its 4th Asia Roadshow last week, having met more than 150 senior supply-chain professionals during visits to major cities across Asia, including Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Ningbo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Daniele Testi, Marketing and Corporate Communications Director who led Contship’s senior delegation to Asia, said: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude by the positive response and support we received from shipping and supply chain professionals in Asia. We really appreciated interacting directly with supply-chain stakeholders based in the important markets in Asia to present and discuss the economic and business benefits of the southern gateway as an alternative routing to south and central Europe.”
La Spezia Container Terminal, a gateway port operated by Contship Italia Group, offers a unique integrated port-to-door system along with Contship’s Intermodal System that enables cargo to be delivered to end-users with reduced transit-times upon arrival at the container terminal via rail and truck services. The comprehensive rail and truck connectivity provides access to multiple markets in Italy as well as south and central Europe.
He added: “We believe it is important to highlight the southern gateway alternative including better risk-management and diversity as well as cost-saving opportunities to Asian freight forwarders, cargo owners and NVOCC’s. This will encourage more cargo volume flowing between Asia and Europe. For the Group, we are anticipating positive year-on-year growth in both import and export flows by the end of 2018.”
“We see growth in volumes between Italy, China and South- East Asia in both exports and imports and we are encouraged that so many forwarders and shippers are starting to see the benefits of the Southern Gateway option.
The economic sentiment in both China and Singapore remained extremely positive and we project that 2019 will be a further year of growth and relationship building” he added.
